In a time where so many humans are talking about disaster preparedness and 72 hour emergency kits, might this feline suggest to you to get a pet bug out bag? Has this ever crossed your mind or did you plan to leave the family cat alone, unable to open the canned cat food or pour a nice bowl of water? That’s what I thought.
Well once again, we cats need to inform our owners that we aren’t stuffed animals…we are, indeed, adorable live creatures (emphasis on “live”) and we’d like to keep it that way. So if an earthquake should come, bird flu (I like the sound of that one!), solar flare or any other calamity, could you please invest in one of these for us? Could you avoid one dinner nite out in exchange for saving one of my nine lives? After all, you buy pets funny t-shirts and witty pet bowls! Think ensuring we survive disaster should come first, don’t you?
These bags, which you can see in the following links, are called pet evacuation kits or an Emergency Cat Survival Kit. They will keep me fed, entertained and much more for three whole days – enough time for you to hunt and catch plenty of mice for me to eat in the future, if necessary. They come in various styles with different features. One bag is a carrier, plus there is food, water, bowls, leash, first aid, treats, toys, litterbox and much more…My only fear, as you panic and run for the door, is that you remember the darn bag and forget me!!
If you don’t believe emergency will strike, perhaps think of how handy these would be in the event of a power outage or if you had to leave the house suddenly for any reason? The food has a five year shelf life, so you don’t have to worry about replacing it.
Of course, you can create your own version of a pet bug out bag, but we both know you will never get around to it, will you pet owner? Just buy a cat a bag and let him know he is included in your 72 hour evacuation plan!
